How it helps

• Practise blending letter sounds into first words. Short consonant-vowel-consonant combinations provide a starting point for blending individual sounds.
• Practise spelling by putting letters in order. Arranging the letters in sequence makes spelling something they can see and adjust.
• Build symbol recognition through hands-on matching. Handling and comparing the pieces makes recognising their shapes part of the game.
